Client Appreciation BBQ Aug. 29

We received an invitation and attended the - Woods Pearson Associates, Charted Accountants BBQ. (sorry, no pictures)

Since we are clients, we feel appreciated and responded by attending. Besides, it was very close to home. We don't go out very often. So it was great. I didn't have to cook, the meal was good, the music was good and best surprise was; meeting other clients - some our customers, friends and family members. All was great. (Of course, this is only my opinion)

Some people are not as easy to please as others. - Food is not good, hamburgers too well done, not enough soda, music too loud, not enough garbage cans, etc. (Did I mention this was free, they didn't have to have this BBQ)

Criticism is always something that gets on my nerves. But then, I'm no different. Here I am criticizing the critics. Around and around we go.

We need your prayers

I received the following email this morning and this is one of the fastest ways I know to spread the request for help. Lorelea and her boss, Ray, are friends of mine. I remember Trevor as 6 years old. I see the resemblance in Ansley. My prayers are with her.

Good morning,

This is my friend and boss Ray's 6 year old granddaughter Ansley, his son Trevor and wife Kate's child.

In the photo she is with her brother Spence, this past Christmas. Ansley has been diagnosed this past weekend with "inoperable" brain cancer. The family believes in prayer and miracles. All of your prayers and those of your friends and relatives are greatly appreciated at this time.

Please feel free to pass this on to people close to you that will help us to pray for her recovery.

Your prayers and positive thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Lorelea

It's the little things that make me Happy

I like sun visors. I found out, I can keep my hat when I leave Tim Hortons. Yippee!

My last day is Sept. 1. On Sept 2 is the start day for the new uniforms. This is probably the reason I get to keep the hat.

This works for me - a souvenir, a comfortable sun visor that I plan on wearing on those sunny days in the hot tub, cutting the grass or walking on the beach. Only good memories I will attach to this hat. Thank you Tim Hortons.

Old Age

Regular Customers

They are called "regular" for a reason. Their routine is constant, unchanging and predictable.

It maybe bad on my part, I never accepted the routine, and waited for "the regulars" to order before preparing their "usual". As I was taught never to assume and I try to live by that.

Since there is definitely no time to socialize I don't know their names. I relate to them by their - good, bad, and no, attitudes as they rhyme off they order. So for some reason this morning my head got stuck with orders. - will just mention a few in random order

tall thin woman - large regular and white bun toasted with butter to go
young man with stutter - extra large double double
two old grumpy men - med. tea in tea pots - one is green tea
old grumpy man - med black tea in cup - for here
old friendly man - med. tea in tea pot who helps himself to more hot water later
tall fake friendly man - with his own very large cup which he bangs on the counter - fill with med black and med. regular to go

The list is long and as I see them coming I think to myself - surprise me - they don't.

I can't talk - I'm guilty of being regular too "The Beer Store" sees me coming - case of Bush and Bush Light. I did surprise them once!

Just 3 more work days!

Yippee.
I know I said this when I got the job, not knowing a thing about serving coffee and donuts. I'm scheduled for Aug. 25 & 27 and Sept. 1 and then I'm free.

Actually, it's not the job, it's the people. This place has given me a new awareness on how different and/or the same we can be. In short, there are some people I won't miss, but still glad our paths crossed, and some I will miss.

Since my return to Canada, my Canadian work experience has been nothing like the south (Bible-belt). When job change happened I missed everyone and still stay in touch with many. Don't know if that will happen with any of the Timmie co-workers.

Oh well, onward.

Give a dog a bone

Of course, he is not just any dog. He is MY DOG!
Peaty is just too cute for words. (This is just my opinion)
He doesn't get a bone very often. We try to keep him on a strict diet. That's a joke.
I should invest in a digital video camera because, this photo doesn't show the whole picture of the enjoyment happening here.

Day with my Honey

It called for rain and thunder storms. So... Kirk didn't go fishing. This is fine with me. We had a great day together. (Well, he did work in the shop some)

Made it a great Birthday.......weekend!

Soon leaving Timmies

One of my favourite cartoons - Frank & Ernest - (also the names of my favourite men) are describing my Tim Hortons experience.
When working Drive-Thru, I feel it is every one's favorite way of shopping.

These beautiful young ladies live in Germany. They are my cousin's children. I received my traditional bouquet of flowers. (I got my first bouquet from my brother when I was 25)
Favorite men in my life. Ernest & Frank
Another day going - bye!

Thanks to Family.... I had another great Birthday Day!

Whimper & Whine

Kirk left early this morning to go fishing. Minutes before leaving he decided he was not taking Shadow, his dog, who is old, weak, deaf and blind. This was my clue, it was going to be a long day for me.

So far so good. It is shortly after 4 pm and the whimper and whine only just started.

Shadow did not notice or get out of her bed until 7:30 am and then the search was on. "Where is Kirk?" I let her into the shop and she searched and settled into her bed out there. That didn't last long. She's had a lot of exercise today by walking back and forth to the house and shop.

At 10 am I finally just left the back door of the house open because I was tired of letting her in and out.

It is soon time for Kirk to return because she is now barking at open doors. Please come home soon!

Beautiful pile of aluminum

This is the last of the steps. We are done! We are glad. Burn-out. Glad to see them go. The truck is arriving on Tuesday. They are out of here! To make us feel even better, we got our first cheque (check) today for the first 15 steps out of 50. We can't wait to spend it. We are buying a tractor. Of course, I will have picture of tractor when it arrives. In the mean time.. I was having a great day at work.(Tim Hortons) Then, just before quiting time, me and the cash-register did not compute. It has to be me. I just wish I could get some formal training with this thing. This trial and error in front of the customers really gets me down.
Oh well, another day.
